FEMA Flood Insurance Extended

Along with a bleaker flood forecast...the Federal Emergency Management Agency's flood insurance program may be coming to an end.The program had already expired...so Congress just voted to extend the FEMA flood insurance program, but only for an extra thirty days.James R. Weir Insurance partner Mike Donohoe just got back from Washington D.C. and says he is very confident the federal government will file for another extension.Mike Donohoe says, "Absolutely, but times are tough so people are looking for ways to cut costs and this is just another one of those things."Flood Insurance through FEMA takes 30 days to kick in.Donohoe says the biggest mistakes people make are that they wait to late apply for flood insurance and they don't get the right type of coverage.
