In national news this Sunday:The State Department has issued a warning for people traveling to parts of Mexico tonight. This after the brutal murders of 3 people tied to the American consulate in Juarez. CBS News Correspondent Terrell Brown has the story.Inside this smashed up, bullet-riddled car...Mexican police found an American consulate employee and her husband shot dead. Their baby unharmed in the back seat...cradled by officers confronting some of the worst drug violence Mexico has ever seen.(nats)A short while later...the spouse of another consulate was murdered.(nats of crying)But ordinary Mexican citizens are taking the brunt of the brutality as rival drug cartels battle in the streets for dominance and control of smuggling routes to the U-S. In the border city of Juarez over the weekend, armed men opened fire on a funeral, killing six people including a 2-month-old baby and a 14-year old girl. And at the popular beach resort of Acapulco, gangs slaughtered 13 people last week alone. Five of them were police officers...four of them beheaded. In a statement, President Obama reacted with strong words...(graphic) saying he was saddened and outraged by the brutal murders. (graphic) He authorized U-S consular employees in six Mexican cities to send their family members home. It's an offer many likely will accept. Since 2006, nearly 18-thousand people have died in drug violence. 26-hundred in Juarez just last year, making it one of the deadliest cities in the world...no place for U-S citizens...according to the State Department. It's warned Americans to stay away. Terrell Brown, CBS News, New York.
