After 70 years of handling hair, she works wonders with a comb...But now she's going back to the basics...Fox Mankato's Jennifer Hudspeth introduces us to a bubbly beautician who's return to school is the mane attraction.Always armed with a comb and a certain sassiness... "She's a happy customer, always smiling."85 year old Ann Dauk has earned the title of Hair Majesty.Dauk says, "That's the story of my life, hair!"She's been looking at locks since the age of 17, her salon specialty: styling.(NATS"She looks pretty good now doesn't she")So why has she stayed in the hair-raising salon business for so long, that's easy just for the shear fun of it.Dauk says, "Making people feel good and make them look nice, I don't know it's just a gratifying thing for me to do, it's something I can do to make them feel better."But as time flies by, Ann has decided to get with the times...by going back to beauty school to be re-certified.Dauk says, "Someone asked me yesterday, where are you going today and I said you won't believe it but I;m going to school and they said what school are you going to....the school of hard knocks, no I said I'm going to Mankato just to find out what they're doing at the beauty school."She finishes up her hours at the Cosmetology Training Center today, although Ann isn't the only one learning.Joni Blekestad says, "She'll sit and visit with the customers or the students and just say what are you doing or how do you do that she'll just sit and watch them and learn as the students are telling her or teaching her things, they're also learning."Jennifer Hudspeth says, "Since Ann is the pro I've decided to ask her for a little advice...Ann what should I do with my long locks?"Dauk says, "Cut them off...haha just kidding."Her personality has just as much style as her career...a career she says she has plenty of length left."I'll probably keep on until my hair falls out...haha!"In Mankato, Jennifer Hudspeth The Fox Mankato News At Nine.
