The Martin County West Mavericks took on the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants in Sherburn. Giants running back Drew Webster rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Giants Quarterback Jared Miller carried for 165 yards with one touchdown. Giants win 24-0
The section 2A action continued in Nicollet, where the visiting Greyhounds looked to cap off an impressive regular season.
Damani Hayes had 16-points and 8-rebounds in East's 58-42 win.
Sticking with state ranked teams, the #1 squad in class A traveled to St. Clair this evening. The top ranked Tigers also have the #1 seed in the South Sub-Section 2A tournament, while the Cyclones earned the #2 seed and before the game.
In Waterville, Buccaneer fans were eager to see another great performance from their local team.
The 3rd-ranked Mankato East Cougars played host to the 2nd-ranked Austin Packers on Friday night. The Packers jumped out to a 39-21 lead at halftime, but the Cougars battled back in the 2nd, coming within three points with just two seconds remaining. In the end, Austin held on for 73-68.
In Faribault, the Eagles not only looked to avenge a 5-point loss last month at home but spoil the night for seven Cardinal seniors who were honored before the game.
Mankato West's Claire Hemstock scored 14 points, while Natalie Harmon added 13 in a 63-58 win over RJM.
