Erick rejoined the KEYC team in August of 2008 after holding the Sports Director position at KIMT in Mason City, IA. He spent over 5 1/2 years at KEYC when he first worked in Mankato, the last 4 years as weekend sports anchor. Although he hopes to get back to his true calling of sports reporting someday, he looks forward to the new challenges working in the news department presents.
Even though he grew up in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Erick has come to view Mankato as home. After meeting and marrying his wife Gretchen in the city, it made moving back to the area the right decision, and returning to KEYC wasn't a question either.
Erick says, "It was an easy choice to come back, because the viewers are outstanding, and the news crew at KEYC is great. It also lets me be closer to me and my wife's families, and that means a lot."
When he isn't working you can find Erick spending time with his wife, family, and friends, either golfing, watching a game, playing cards, or bowling.
Erick graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2001 with a degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism.
He is always looking for a good story, so if you have one you'd like him to tell, email him here at the station.
