The state patrol now reports that a second person has died after a multi-vehicle accident in Nicollet County along US Highway 14. It happened around 10:30 Wednesday morning. The highway re-opened around 3:00 Wednesday afternoon after the Minnesota State Patrol finished accident reconstruction and investigation.
According to the State Patrol, two motorcyclists were traveling westbound on Highway 14 west of North Mankato when they were struck by an east bound vehicle. A spokeswoman with the State Patrol also says that a vehicle following the westbound motorcycles was also struck. The driver in that vehicle was extricated and airlifted to a hospital. The passenger in that westbound vehicle was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
The State Patrol says both the deceased are males and from out of state. Identities are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
