The Echo Food Shelf got a much needed donation today. Mankato area members of the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees raised $700 to help feed their neighbors in need. The gift will provide more than two–thousand meals, but that will only fill a portion of the empty plates.
Deisy De Leon Esqueda, says,"Even though the check is wonderful and is going to help us cover some of the needs we have, there are still a lot more needs. Echo has grown significantly in the past year, we are now distributing over 92,000 pounds of food a month and we're helping more than 1,300 families. And this is about a 22 percent increase from the previous year."
The M.A.P.E. representatives also signed up to be volunteer at the food shelf. For more information on how you can help or if your family could use some assistance from ECHO…check out the featured link at keyc.tv.
