New Native American Art Exhibit Comes To St. Peter

It's the grand opening this weekend for a traveling exhibition about Native American Nations at the Treaty Site History Center in St. Peter.

It's called, "Why Treaties Matter." Those who attend will learn about American Indian-U.S. treaties, and how treaty rights are exercised today.

It examines the history or treaty making with the Dakota and Ojibwe nations that now reside in Minnesota.

Historical Society Director, Ben Leonard says, "It's really fun to have here because Minnesota River Valley helped put it together we have elders from up Sioux that helped with the exhibit and lower Sioux and really it's nice to have local history that's really important on a national level right here at the treaty sight history center."
The cost is $5 for adults $4 for Seniors and $3 6-17 year olds. The exhibit will run until January 30.
