5 ounce blocks of wood raced down the tracks in St. Peter today at over 200 miles per hour for the annual cub scout pinewood derby.
It's event that's been a cubs scout tradition for over 50 years.
Participants say half the fun is designing and building their cars, some get pretty creative all the while staying within size and weight requirement.
Winners from today's event have the chance to go into a national race but participants came for the fun.
Jaden Nuebauer and Josh Ellerbeck say, "It fun to just get out and have fun with your friends racing the card together and seeing people win usually if you get the pack champion you get to go on to this next level and make new friends. It's just about having fun and having fun racing."
Winning categories fastest car per den, best looking and grand champion. 36 cars entered the race today.
