The girls section 1–A swim meet is schedule for next week, and once again Mankato West is looking to be well represented.
News 12 Sports Erick Lind says one of the Scarlets looking to make it to state is Nicole Lohman.
The senior is already breaking school records, and she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
Nicole Lohman is in her fifth year with the Mankato West swimming and diving team.
The Scarlets' senior swims the 50 and 100 freestyle races individually, as well as leading off the 200 and 400 freestyle relay race teams.
Her coach says her height and long arms give her more speed, but it is her effort level that makes her a good captain.
Lohman helped lead Mankato West to a third place finish at the Big 9 conference meet last weekend, and the top score for any single–A teams participating.
She had top eight finishes in both her individual events, to go along with both of her relay teams winning their events.
Lohman has turned in top times of 24.7 seconds in the 50 free this year, and 54.8 seconds in the 100.
Both times would get her to the University of Minnesota.
Combine that with the fact that both relay teams have yet to lose a race this season, and the state meet could be a very busy trip for Lohman.
That's why she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
