Sibley East Defends Homefield To Beat W-E-M In 2AA Championship

Posted: Updated:

It has been a rough week to say the least for the Waterville Elysian Morristown football team.
The Buccaneers had to say goodbye to senior wide receiver number-2 Brady Hruska after a hunting accident claimed his life.
It might be fitting that W-E-M was the number-two seed in the section 2-2A tournament, as the Bucs traveled to Arlington to try and win the section championship by taking down top seeded Sibley East on the Wolverines homefield.
The Buccaneers would lead 15-7 going into the third quarter, but the Wolverines score twice to take a 21-15 lead into the 4th.  W-E-M would get down deep in Sibley East territory, but the home team would turn the ball over on downs.  The Wolverines would only need to pick up three first downs and they do, as Sibley East wins 21-15 and is heading to the state AA tournament.
