Hunters taking part in Minnesota's wolf hunt found the animals to be elusive opening weekend. A total of 3,600 licenses were issued for the start of the firearms season, which began Saturday. By the end of the opening weekend, only 50 of the animals had been killed. The region's wolves came off the endangered list in January. Minnesota has a quota of 400 wolves for the season that includes this early season and a hunting-and-trapping season that begins Nov. 24.
