Today marks the start of the 27th season of the Holiday Sharing Tree. Since 1985, the organization has given more than 45,000 gifts to those in need.
The first official gift was donated this morning at the kickoff celebration at the River Hills Mall. Liz Brown, Project Manager, has been with the organization for 20 years. When asked about her favorite part of the Holiday Sharing Tree, Brown says, "It is just priceless to see the looks on individuals' faces when they come in to receive their family bag, and they are so appreciative to this community and what they give."
Basic goods like warm clothes are most needed. To donate, visit any one of the "tree sites" to pick up a gift card. These gift cards include gift suggestions. Simply follow the suggestion, wrap the gift, and return it. You can also donate gifts and can contribute with a monetary donation.
