A Minnesota State-Mankato student is in custody following an armed assault at the university's library last night. 19-year old Kevin Joseph Renquist was taken into custody around 7:15 after police responded to an assault complaint at the Memorial Library on campus, When officers arrived, they located a suspect who had been detained by several students. Authorities say they learned that the victim, also a student at MSU, was assaulted in a bathroom. Renquist allegedly grabbed the victim from behind while holding a knife. The victim defended himself and was able to escape. The victim was transported by ambulance to the local hospital with what police describe as non-life-threatening injuries. Requested charges against Renquist include second degree assault, terroristic threats and other possible charges.
