One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash near Sleepy Eye.
Authorities were called to the scene of the collision Thursday morning just after six. Authorities say 53-year-old Karen Branch of New Ulm died in the crash. She was driving a GMC Sierra.
The driver of a van, 52-year-old Roddy Verschelde of North Mankato was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Motorists were detoured around the crash, as a portion of the highway was shut down.
"One was traveling eastbound, and one was traveling westbound when the collision happened--it was a head-on type collision," said Lt. Jeremy Geiger of the Minnesota State Patrol.
The collision sent debris and glass flying.
"When you get closer to it, you can tell it's a very horrific crash," said Geiger.
While the cause of the collision remains under investigation, authorities would like to remind drivers to use caution.
"Take it easy, take your time getting to work," said Geiger. "As always we come back to the same reminders: wear your seatbelt, pay attention. Inattentive driving is not the place out here, anywhere in the state, but especially on Highway 14."
Authorities say both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and airbags did deploy in both vehicles.
