The 2012 calendar is winding down and local retailers are making a big push to get consumers to open their pocketbooks this holiday season before the year ends. Stores have already started rolling out their Christmas inventory at the River Hills Mall in Mankato. Instead of waiting until Black Friday, two mall stores-both Target and Sears-will open their doors Thanksgiving night. Mall spokespeople say this time of the year is very critical for retailers when it comes to making a profit. Paul WIlke of River Hills Mall says, "We will get between now and the end of the year about two million people will come through River Hills Mall-our annual traffic is about 8.5 million people." When Target's doors open at nine on Thanksgiving night, store employees say they expect around two-thousand people to be already waiting in line.
