It's the season retailers wait all year for.
And while Christmas is traditionally set aside for celebration and singing, many stores are hoping their cash registers will do a little caroling of their own.
Here in Mankato, some stores are not waiting until Black Friday to do big holiday business.
"Our annual traffic is about 8.5 million people and 2 million are between November 1st and December 31st," said Paul Wilke, River Hills Mall senior general manager.
In an effort to get a jump on the Christmas shopping season, some retailers at the River Hills Mall are opening their doors Thanksgiving night, in the hopes of making some even bigger holiday sales.
"This will be the first year ever that Sears...and Target are opening on Thanksgiving," said Wilke.
A change to the schedule, in the hopes of bringing in more customers is all part of the plan. It's a plan that Ryan Selly of Target says will pay off.
"We're anticipating almost...three quarters of a million dollars in sales on that one day alone," Selly said.
Target says they expect anywhere from 1,000 to 2,000 people to be standing outside their doors when they open Thanksgiving night.
"Really excited to have everyone come right out after their Thanksgiving dinner," said Selly.
If you are going with the pack on Black Friday, plan on waking up early. The River Hills Mall will completely open up at 6:00 A.M. that day.
