MSU Gets Northwest Missouri State Next, UMD Falls In 3OT

Posted: Updated:

The MSU football team earned a bye to the 2nd round of the division two tournament as the top seed in super-region three.
The Mavericks would have to wait and see who won the game in Maryville Missouri where 4th seeded Northwest Missouri State hosted 5th seeded Harding on Saturday.
Northwest Missouri State would be without star running back Jordan Simmons who has 18 touchdowns this season for the Bearcats.
They wouldn't need Simmons as they went to the air with Tyler Shaw making the great catch on the pass from Trevor Adams.
Adams would find John Hinchey for the score to make it 21-nothing at halftime,
And Northwest Missouri State pitches the shutout, beating Harding 35-nothing.  MSU will host the Bearcats Saturday November 24th at noon.

The other side of the bracket was a little more interesting with 3rd seeded Missouri Western hosting the 6th seed from Minnesota Duluth.
It would go to the 3rd overtime tied at 49 when the Griffons score on a quarterback keeper by Travis Partridge.
They have to go for two and Western Missouri gets it with a pass from Partridge to Reggie Jordan to make it 57-49.
Bulldogs get the ball and Austin Sikorski goes in from three yards out to make it a two point game.
On the two point conversion, UMD quarterback Chase Vogler gets tripped by his own teammate in the backfield and Missouri Western moves on with the 57-55 victory, to travel to Henderson State next Saturday for a noon start as well.
