The Minnesota Vikings have been questionable on the field of late, but one high school team from South Central Minnesota had few problems throughout the season on their way to a state championship.
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers went a perfect 13-0 on their way to the school's first state football championship taking the 3-A title on Saturday with a 30-7 victory over Rochester Lourdes.
Today the team was welcomed back by their fans at the high school in Blue Earth.
All in attendance got to see the prized trophies this year's Buccaneers team had collected.
Administrators, media members, team captains, and coaches all had a chance to address the assembled crowd in the gymnasium this afternoon.
The program ended with a pair of videos reviewing the season.
The players and coaches give all the credit to the fans that made up the Maroon Platoon and supported the Bucs on their historic run.
While the wait was 22 years for head coach Randy Kuechenmeister, it was even longer for another longtime Buccaneer as Jim "Jet" Govern finally got to see Blue Earth Area win a title after 43 years with the program, and he said he is very happy and relieved.
