A Mankato man appears in court after allegedly strangling, assaulting and holding a woman that lived with him against her will. Thirty-one year old Paul Manyang Ter faces 3 felony charges of assault along with false imprisonment. Court documents say Ter became upset after an argument with the woman about money. He hit and strangled the woman until she could not breath. She was eventually able to get his cell phone and barricade herself in the bathroom to call police. A police review of Ter's record reveals he has a previous domestic-violence related conviction in Minnesota and the state of Washington.
