MSU Men's Basketball Dealt First Loss, Women Beat Upper Iowa

Posted: Updated:

The MSU men's basketball team came into Saturday night's game with Upper Iowa undefeated at 6-0 after a big win over Winona State.  There was a little hangover from the victory though as the Peacocks started out on a 12-0 run, and led 20-2 before the Mavericks closed it to a 22-10 game midway through the first half.  MSU only trailed by two heading to the lockers and took a 60-59 lead with 11 seconds to go, but the Peacocks win at the buzzer on a shot from Jake Hughes as Upper Iowa upsets MSU 61-60.

The Mavericks women's team was also looking to stay unbeaten on the year with the Peacocks visiting.  MSU trailed by four at halftime, but took the lead and opened it up in the 2nd half outscoring Upper Iowa 51-23.  The Mavs were led by Ali Wilkinson for the 2nd straight night as she posts 24 points and 17 rebounds as MSU goes on to win 81-57.
