With less than two weeks left in its "Kettle Campaign", Mankato's Salvation Army has raised less than half of its goal of 275,000 dollars. Mankato's Salvation Army Captain Mike Parker says every cent counts and he's always looking for extra volunteers. Parker says, "We are concerned and we have been gracious in this community for so many years, we're just looking for that support with this next couple of weeks."
Parker says he's had so many people come in for help that they've had to turn people away for certain programs. He says the Salvation Army's 800 Christmas baskets weren't enough for everyone who applied for them. However, he says there is still plenty of room for people on December 25 for a Christmas dinner.
