Four–year–old Brody McClinton told his family that God told him his mom would be having a baby girl... and he was right. Weighing in at eight pounds, two ounces Kiera McClinton was born a little after 2 this morning. Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato's Kevin Burns says all babies are wonderful and precious, but new years babies are blessed with something extra special. Burns says, "I think there is an allure. I can't speak for all parents, but I think the allure is having the first of anything."
An average of four babies are born each day at the clinic. Burns says, "Some days we have one or two there are other days we may have eight or nine or even 10 births everyday it just really depends on what's going on in the universe."
But nurse Lisa Proehl says each one is unique in its own way. Proehl says, "You don't know how that child's going to react until they see that baby and that's the fun part of it you get to watch those eyes open for the very first time they see mom."
While younger brother Blake may still be getting used to having a new sibling, Brody's been ready for his sister since before she was born.
