A Lake Crystal man is accused of felony assault on a police officer.
On December 30th a Mankato Department of Public Safety officer conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, Jonathan Collins got out of the car.
Authorities say 37-year-old Collins is deaf, and attempted to hold out a notebook.
Officials say Collins forcefully reached out for the notebook and came within inches of an officer's face.
According to the criminal complaint, Collins later began to physically resist officers and at one point during the altercation, one of the officer's fingers was broken.
Collins is now facing two felony and two gross misdemeanor charges in connection with the incident.
