MSU health services is encouraging students to get the flu shot if they haven't already. But, they're also telling them to stay home if they're sick. According to the university's most recent health assessment only 35 percent of students reported getting the flu shot. Director of Student Health Services Wendy Schuh says, "It's a tough sell for people unless somebody tells them it's a good idea or mom and dad says hey you should get a flu shot it's a hard thing when you're feeling well to get yourself to go in and get flu shot."
Schuh says when the virus was at its worst right around the beginning winter break and is not nearly as strong now as students come back to school. But with 15,000 students coming back to one location it still can be easy for the virus to spread.
