The Nicollet Raiders girls basketball team is still transitioning to new head coach Jennie Noreen.
News 12 Sports Erick Lind says the former MSU Maverick is happy to have senior Katelyn Skrien on her team to help make the transition for her easier.
Skrien has helped lead the Raiders to eight straight wins and she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
Katelyn Skrien knew there would be some changes her senior year on the Nicollet Raiders basketball team.
That started with a new head coach, but the team is adapting and getting up and down the court thanks to Skrien's ability to lead.
Skrien has been averaging just under 14 points per game this year with a season high 27.
She likes to show she has range, but again will do whatever the coach needs her to do.
Skrien says she is not only the scoring leader, but emotional leader as well, keeping the team's confidence up and reminding them to have fun.
Still the wins come much easier when she is getting the shots to drop.
And it looks like it will be a good end to the year, as the Raiders are peaking at the right time heading toward the Valley Conference Showcase and the playoffs, winning their last eight, thanks to Skrien leading the way.
That's why she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
