Le Sueur County Sheriff Issues Thin Ice Warning

LE SUEUR COUNTY, MN -

The LeSueur County Sheriff's Office is requesting that there be no motorized vehicle travel on Lake Gorman (Lake Cordova) which is located SE of LeCenter in the Village of Cordova. It was discovered that the recent high winds and rain has caused a detriment to the ice. The Ice was found to be open stretching almost all the way across the southern portion of the lake. The concern that we currently have is that we are expecting to get some cold weather in the next few days and this area of the lake will again freeze causing people to think it is safe to drive on it and they could easily find themselves driving on very thin Ice. The lake has been posted with this request on all access points requesting the public to have no travel of any type of Motor Vehicle to include ATV and Snowmobile.
