The Waseca girls hockey team won a big game on Friday at New Ulm to earn a split of the South Central Conference title. Taryn Juberien is rewriting the Waseca record books and she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
Waseca starting center Taryn Juberien has been playing with the Bluejays for six seasons, but it has really taken until her final two years for her to come on and want to be the leading goal scorer for the team.
That is exactly what she is doing as a senior with 36 goals and another 18 assists.
Earlier this season Juberien became the school's all–time goal scorer, and points leader. She now sits at 102 goals and 155 points, but says it is thanks to everyone she has played with since 7th grade.
This past Friday saw Juberien help lead Waseca to a share of the South Central Conference title when the Bluejays went to then undefeated conference leading New Ulm and beat the Eagles 3–1.
Waseca also landed the 4th seed in its section, and if Juberien can keep scoring goals, the Bluejays could give the teams in the 1–A tournament a run for their money.
That's why she's our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Girls Prep Athlete of the Week.
