Adrian Peterson bounced back from a torn ACL to nearly break the NFL's single season rushing record.
News 12 Sports Erick Lind says it is double the comeback story at Maple River this year. Seniors Michael Lewis and Jaron Denn are both coming off of knee surgery and leading the Eagles to the top of the conference.
They are our KEYC Scheels All–Sports Boys Co–prep athletes of the week.
Michael Lewis and Jaron Denn have played varsity basketball with Maple River for four years. They actually didn't get a chance to play year three together as Lewis was out all season following a torn ACL during football season, and Denn's junior year was cut short by the same injury after the Eagles started 10–0. Both have battled back by pushing each other during physical therapy to return for their senior year and make it a memorable one, and so far at 17–3 it is a pretty good start.
Ostermann says the tandem works well together because Lewis looks to pass first, and Denn looks to score first, and the duo says they trust in each other's abilities.
They both say they are feeling healthy again and their numbers show it with Denn averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds, while Lewis is recording 6 assists to go with 9 points per night.
The Eagles are on top of the Valley Conference ranked 4th in class–2A thanks to the leadership of Lewis and Denn, our KEYC Scheels All–Sports boys co–prep athletes of the week.
