The Saint Clair boys basketball team is having a successful season to this point sitting at 15-7 coming into tonight.
News 12 Sports Erick Lind says the Cyclones are in search of a 20 win season, and Ryan Kruse is a big reason why.
The junior is leading Saint Clair in scoring and rebounding and he's our KEYC Scheels All-Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
Charlie Freitag has been coaching Ryan Kruse since the Saint Clair junior was playing at the junior varsity level.
The coach says he has seen Kruse improve every year because of the work he puts in during the offseason.
The last two seasons have seen him lead the Cyclones varsity team in scoring...but that is nothing new for Kruse.
Kruse is averaging 23 points per game this season, but he is doing much more than scoring by grabbing 13 rebounds a night.
The coach even moved Kruse to point guard because he records 2 ½ assists per game.
Freitag says Kruse is the speaking captain and makes sure the game flows.
Point guard is a switch for Kruse because he enjoys working inside, but has been working on his jumper so he can hit an occasional three.
Either way he is happy with his numbers, but even happier with the team's success.
That's why he's our KEYC Scheels All-Sports Boys Prep Athlete of the Week.
