State documents show Dr. David Miller of New Ulm has a history of substance abuse.
Miller is being investigated for stealing pain mediation from a vulnerable adult.
In 19-3, according to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice, Miller sought inpatient treatment for depression and alcohol-chemical dependency at a facility in Pennsylvania.
The board also said Miller used cannabis several times weekly and 5 to 30 Percocet tablets daily, which he initially obtained as samples.
Doctor Miller also apparently wrote prescriptions for himself using false names.
Then in 1994, Miller was admitted to the Riverside Medical Center Chemical Dependency Treatment Program. He was discharged the next month with an impression of opioid and alcohol dependence.
As far as the current criminal charges against him, Doctor Miller is scheduled to make a court appearance on March 19th at 8:30 A.M. in Brown County.
