The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team missed out on an automatic bid to the division three national tournament last year when they lost in the UMAC Tournament Championship to Northwestern.
The Vikings will get a second try on Saturday when they take on the Eagles once again in Roseville.
2nd year head coach David Balza says making the D–3 tournament is the last remaining goal on the locker room wall from when he started.
Bethany and Northwestern are very evenly matched with the teams going 1–2 in the conference for defense and 1–3 for offense.
The two squads split the regular season with both games decided by three points.
The advantage for the Vikings is that they have seven seniors and have won their last two times playing at Northwestern, so they feel like they can do it one more time and reach the Big Dance.
