MSU Men Win NSIC Outright, Women Finish A Game Back

Posted: Updated:

The MSU men's basketball team had a lot riding on this evening's game with Southwest Minnesota State.
A win guaranteed the Mavericks a share of the NSIC title.
A win and a Winona State loss at Augustana would give 9th ranked MSU the title outright.
MSU did just that as they beat SMSU 85-75 and Winona State Lost 81-78 in Sioux Falls.

The 21st ranked Mavericks women's team was chasing a regular season title as well.  MSU would need a win over Southwest Minnesota State and a Concordia Saint Paul loss against Sioux Falls.  The Mavs got their win, beating the Mustangs 80-62, but the Golden Bears beat the Cougars big in Saint Paul to stave off MSU and take the regular season title by a game.
