A big night for boys' high school hockey on Saturday night as New Ulm met Hutchinson in the section 3A semifinal at Gustavus Adolphus. After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board with a goal from Judd Davis during 4-on-4 hockey early in the 2nd period. The Tigers respond when Keegan Macemon scored the first of three goals in three minutes for Hutchinson, as the Tigers eliminate the Eagles 3-2, and get Marshall next after the Tigers ousted top seeded Luverne 5-3 earlier in the night.
Mankato West was in Rochester for the section 1A semifinal with New Prague. It was scoreless midway through the 2nd period as well, but the Scarlets turn on the switch and win 4-2 to advance to the championship against top seeded Rochester Lourdes who got by Northfield 5-4.
