Mankato's plow crews are getting ready for the snow as well. Several trucks were out today laying liquid salt brine. Drivers will be out early tomorrow morning plowing the major roads and hills. Officials say says motorists need to remember to keep their distance from plows as well as avoid parking on streets if possible. Mankato Streets Superintendent Jim Braunshausen says, "We even allow you during these snow events for you to just actually park on your front lawn. Just anything to get off of the streets. It just makes our job quicker and easier."
Officials say this storm will be particularly tough on the city because it is going to drag out over several days instead of our past one–day storms.
