Minnesota's governor and legislators could receive their first pay increases since the late 1990s.
If the proposal is adopted, the governor's salary would go up three percent in 2015 and again in the year 2016.
Right now the governor's base pay is at about $120,000. It's been unchanged since the year 1998.
Under the plan, legislator pay would be set at one-third of what the governor makes.
Right now lawmakers are given $31,140 per year. The plan would bump their pay to nearly $41,000.
The proposal could still change. No pay hikes can occur unless the legislature and governor ratify all necessary recommendations.
