After she pleaded guilty to killing her husband last year, Jennifer Nibbe is now being sued for wrongful death.
The case has been filed in Blue Earth County.
"There is no sum of money that will replace James," said Scott Kelly, attorney representing the plaintiffs.
Jennifer Nibbe is being sued for wrongful death. Back in June of last year, she pleaded guilty to killing her husband James.
"The purpose of this lawsuit is to make sure that she never ever profits from this," said Kelly.
According to legal documents, Nibbe had 20 days to respond to the litigation.
"Her response was somewhat rambling, it certainly didn't meet the legal requirements, but she denied responsibility and denied the family was damaged," said Kelly.
Kelly says plans are in the works to seek damages in excess of $50,000 against Nibbe.
According legal documents, the plaintiffs have incurred medical expenses, funeral expenses, and various damages in excess of $50,000. But another key point to the litigation is to prevent Nibbe from taking in money herself due to notoriety.
The case is due back in court on April 19th.
News 12 contacted the correctional facility where Nibbe is being held in an effort to seek comment. However, our call was not returned.
