A tobacco shop in Owatonna is raided for synthetic marijuana, and authorities say a subsequent search of the owner's home turns up an additional 65 hundred packets that may also be the banned substance.
The raid at the Jericho Tobacco shop on Bridge Street in Owatonna took place on Tuesday, the same day the Smokes 4 Less Tobacco shop in Mankato was raided by the River Valley Drug Task Force.
While no information has been released regarding that raid, the Owatonna bust has yielded the arrest of three individuals.
Omar Ahmad Abdallah, 47, the owner, faces the harshest penalties, including a 4th degree drug sale charge, which carries the possibility of 15 years in prison.
Khamis Abdallah faces felony charges as well, and Wael Abdallah faces a misdemeanor possession charge.
Along with the drugs taken in the raid, more than $24,000 was found in a safe on site.
The sting actually dates back to April 17th of last year, the first time the police did a compliance check.
A second straw purchase on August 30th led to the testing of the drugs, which are labeled as herbal incense.
