It took the boys from Mountain Lake 60 years to get back to the state basketball tournament in 2012.
The Wolverines next trip to the Class–A tourney was considerably quicker, as they took the section 2–single–A title for the 2nd straight year.
Technically it was M–L–B–O that made the tournament last season, but the co–op expired at the end of last year.
Still the team dominated the section this season, winning the championship over Lester Prairie Holy Trinity 65–30 last Friday at MSU.
What is more impressive is that this squad is almost entirely new, with only Carter Kirk and Andrew Hempeck playing significant minutes on last year's team, but they used that experience to make sure the Wolverines would reach state once again.
The Wolverines brought the players from Mountain Lake Christian on board during the summer.
The team struggled out of the gate, losing their first two games, but then figured it out winning their next 16.
Now the Wolverines are heading back to Williams Arena, and a great opportunity with an even deeper team.
