A massive collection of Star Wars figurines and other collectibles were stolen from a Mankato storage facility.
That collection belonged to Wally Boyer, who is also the owner of Jake's Pizza in Mankato.
"We were called and the owner of the facility said it looked like something was amiss," said Boyer. "So my wife and I drove out and we opened up the storage facility, and we saw immediately that a large portion of our collection of Star Wars had been stolen."
Initially, the Mankato Department of Public Safety said in a news release that the theft was over $15,000. But Boyer says he's readjusted his estimate. Boyer said Friday afternoon that he estimates the value of the stolen collectibles is in the range of $20,000-$25,000.
Authorities say the theft happened sometime between March 1st and March 22nd.
The Mankato Department of public safety says the burglar, or burglars cut the hinge to open the door on the storage unit. Authorities say they're not sure if the theft was random or targeted.
"It's anger, frustration, sadness, because there's a lot of memories in some of the stuff we have," said Boyer.
Right now police say they have no suspects in custody and are asking for the public's help.
Boyer says he has insurance coverage on the collection, but he says more than anything, he is hoping to see the items again.
