It's been a tough go for crews working to restore power in frozen rain-ravaged southwestern Minnesota. Many remain without electricity for a second day.
Nobles Cooperative Electric reports that 3,400 customers remain without power as of Thursday morning, and Co-Op officials are warning their members they may be without power for an extended period of time. According to the Co-Op's website, snow and wind have slowed the restoration process.
The other big problem, NCE officials say, is transmission lines to their substations are down. There's no power at the Bloom, Worthington, or Adrian substations.
Wednesday, NCE requested help from neighboring cooperatives to speed the restoration process. They've gotten an additional 50 linemen and tree trimmers to pitch in.
Nobles Cooperative Electric is based in Worthington, and serves parts of Nobles and Murray Counties.
