The wrongful death trial against the New Ulm Medical Center and Allina Health Systems continues today. This morning, an attorney for the Medical Center and Health System says an emergency room doctor followed regular standards of care when treating 45-year-old Verlyn Buls who collapsed and died at the ER in 2006. Attorney Lindsay Arthur says the doctor did measure Buls' heart beat and checked other vital signs when he arrived in the ER. Arthur says Buls failed to tell physicians about chest pains he had recently been experiencing. An autopsy showed Buls died of an irregular heart beat with coronary artery disease. That trial is expected to last through Friday.
