An inmate at the Faribault County jail is facing felony charges after he is accused of kicking a corrections officer and spitting on authorities. According to the criminal complaint, Reed Nelson became disruptive at the jail. Nelson was told to stop, but the situation continued to escalate. Nelson allegedly kicked a corrections officer several times in the abdomen. Eventually a Blue Earth and Winnebago police officer were brought in to assist. After he was tased, Nelson allegedly spat on authorities. According to court records, Nelson is now facing three felony and one gross misdemeanor count in connection with the incident. The criminal complaint says Nelson is due to make a court appearance on those charges on May 6th.
