Several people descended on lower North Mankato to take part in Cinco de Mayo festivities on Sunday.
Dancing, relaxing, and having a good time was all part of the occasion at Las Fronteras. The restaurant had a variety of games and activities for children as well. And what would the celebration be without the authentic Mexican food and refreshments?
The co-owner of Las Fronteras says the celebration brought in a lot of familiar faces.
"I really enjoy it, I love our customers, especially our regulars, but we enjoy seeing the new faces stopping in and peeking, seeing what's going on," said Maria Hidalgo, co-owner of Las Fronteras.
Aside from the celebrating, the history of Cinco de Mayo dates back to the Battle of Puebla in 1862, when the Mexican army defeated French forces.
