Graduation ceremonies held for Moore, Oklahoma students

OKLAHOMA -

Five days after a deadly tornado tore through Moore, Oklahoma, thousands took a break from the clean-up to mark a special occasion.

Three high schools in the community held graduation ceremonies.

Kenny Tumblson saw his son Sawyer graduate.

"It took my Dad's house completely--it's gone," said Sawyer Tumblson.

Monday's tornado ripped the Sawyer's home apart, leaving only a mountain of memories. Kenny Tumblson said graduation is what kept them going.

"We finally made ourselves go shopping for clothes, because we didn't have no clothes for the graduation, but we got clothes and we're here today," Kenny Tumblson said.

Postponing the graduations wasn't an option. Leaders at the Moore Public School District say they wanted to hold the ceremonies as scheduled to give students a sense of normalcy.

For those graduates who have lived in Moore their entire life, they've survived seven tornadoes that have hit their hometown.
