New Ulm City Council to weigh-in on airport grant

NEW ULM, Minn. -

The New Ulm City Council is expected to weigh-in this upcoming Tuesday on whether to lock-in a grant to pay for work at the local airport.

According to a measure on the city council agenda, the Federal Aviation Administration requested the City add saw-cut grooving to the final pavement surface of the primary runway.

The goal behind the saw-cutting is to increase aircraft safety during wet conditions.

The council is expected to weigh-in this upcoming Tuesday on a grant agreement. That agreement would provide an $87,700 state grant. That cash would pay for all of the runway-grooving work.
