An effort launched by Mankato to make the city's parks safer appearsto be working, as authorities say calls for service have been reduced inMankato's Parks.
Park rangers were implemented two and ahalf years ago to help the city parks maintain a safe environment.
There are two park rangers on staff. Their job is to patrol various trails andparks, including Sibley Park, Land of Memories, and Riverfront Park.
But it's a collaborative effort to help enforce cityordinances, answer citizen questions and make sure the parks are well-maintained.
Deputy Director of Matt Westermayer said, "It involvespart time park rangers, police officers, park department employees it's truly ateam effort. It's our goal to promote safety and family friendly atmospherewith in our parks where people feel comfortable to take their kids and utilizespaces."
