Madelia Man Faces Child Porn Charges

Posted: Updated:

A Madelia man is charged with possessing child pornography.

32-year-old Baltazar Cruz Villanueva faces four felony counts of possessing pornographic work.

A criminal complaint in Watonwan County says authorities were led to Villanueva after BCA agents obtained what appeared to be child pornography though a peer-sharing program.

After they traced the IP address to a computer in Madelia, agents searched a home on 5th street Northwest back on July 9th and seized the computers and data storage there.

Authorities say after checking a national database from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, four videos were confirmed to be child pornography.

Villanueva allegedly admitted to downloading the material, saying he didn't mean to download child porn, but kept it once he had it.

Court documents say Villanueva is an undocumented alien.

At a hearing last week, bail was set at 50 thousand dollars.

Villanueva's next court date is July 23rd.
