A Mankato man convicted of selling drugs in a school zone is sentenced today.
21 year–old Medi Opiew was arrested April 8th, after drug task force members executed a 'controlled delivery' of a package addressed to 412 North Second Street in Mankato. In June, a jury found Opiew, guilty of all four felony drug charges. At the time of his arrest, Opiew was already on probation for a previous felony drug conviction. According to court documents, a Blue Earth County judge sentenced Opiew to one year in jail, with 105 days credit for time served. In addition, he must pay a $2–thousand dollar fine. An 18–month prison term is stayed for the 5 years that Opiew will be on probation.
