From that epic endurance race in the Alaskan winter to hispersonal journey of recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction, John Storkamphas conquered it all.
And Monday night the Hastings, Minnesota native shared whathe learned along the way.
The ultramarathon winner is also celebrating 19 years ofrecovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Storkamp stressed to the crowd gathered in Mankato... all his journeys require endurance.
"It's possible for anybody to make those changes. Whether it be in recovery, in getting sober, or if it's running or if it's in another endeavor, it's mind over matter," Storkamp said.
Tonight's free event was organized by Southern MinnesotaRecovery Connection.
Storkamp says he does these speaking engagements to "pay itforward" in a way and always reach out to others who ask for help in theirrecovery from drug or alcohol addiction.
